🌿 One of the best things about working in this space is the incredible collaborations we get to be part of, and this project was a perfect example! We had the pleasure of teaming up with the Mulloon Institute and Soils for Life to tell the inspiring story of farmers in the Northern Tablelands of NSW who are coming together to rehydrate their farms and catchments.
In one of our latest videos, we highlight how a group of farmers is taking practical steps to manage water on their land. And it’s not just about their individual farms—it’s about working together to create healthier landscapes, manage water more effectively, and building resilience in the face of climate challenges. 💧
The Mulloon Institute: A Key Partner in Water Management
The Mulloon Institute is doing some pretty groundbreaking work when it comes to water management. They’re not just looking at single farms but working at a catchment level, helping farmers improve how water moves through their land. The idea is to slow down the water flow so it’s absorbed into the soil, helping to rehydrate the landscape rather than letting it run off too quickly.
By working with farmers across Australia, they’re helping restore natural water systems, which isn’t just great for agriculture—it’s crucial for making these areas more resilient against things like droughts and floods. 🌏
Sharing Success with Soils for Life
Another key player in this project is Soils for Life, who has been documenting the journey through case studies. These case studies show real examples of how landscape rehydration is working in the field, giving other farmers a road map to follow if they’re interested in trying out these regenerative practices themselves.
What’s really great about these stories is that they give other land managers tangible, real-world examples of how focusing on the health of soil and water systems can transform their land for the better. Soils for Life is really helping spread the word and show how these practices can make a big difference.
Supported by the Future Drought Fund
This project wouldn’t be possible without support from the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund, which is helping make sure projects like these get the attention and resources they need. It’s great to see investment in long-term, sustainable farming solutions that will help farmers better manage their land for the future.
This collaboration really highlights how powerful communities of practice can be—when farmers, researchers, and environmental advocates work together, they can create lasting change.
